"Spore Creature Creator," a standalone character editor released in advance of the full game. "Spore" is something of an amalgam, taking ideas and cues not only from "The Sims" and "SimCity," but also from "Civilization" and "Alpha Centauri," both from the equally renowned Sid Meier.
Seeing that this planet needed an atmosphere first, Will set to creating a livable surface for the Tripods. Cities can still be founded on the surface regardless of the atmosphere as clear bubble domes will surround cities keeping them safe. if all of a player's creations are completely destroyed at some point, then that player's species goes back to the beginning of that level, or the last viable point in species development. I tried repeatedly at the various levels to establish peaceful relations with the creatures around me, but when repeated entreaties failed, I found it much easier to simply devour or conquer them.
